Documentary and lifestyle photographer in Finistère, Brittany

I am Yannick Schutz, a documentary and lifestyle photographer based in the Monts d’Arrée, in Finistère, Brittany. I photograph real people doing real things, mostly on film. For brands, that means pictures that look like life, not like an ad.

I work in Brittany and wherever the job is. Version française.

What I photograph

Brand campaigns and lookbooks. Lifestyle images for brands that want honest pictures of people using their things: outdoors, by the sea, at home. Recently: a collab with TWOTHIRDS.

Editorial stories. Documentary stories for magazines and publications, from a single portrait to a full reportage.

Surf and water. I shoot in the water with a Nikonos V and I surf myself, so I am comfortable photographing surfers, shapers and the culture around them.

Prints and zines. I make zines and signed prints. My first zine sold out with Ex Why Zed, and you can find the current ones in the shop. Get in touch for custom prints or editions.

Selected work and exhibitions

The homepage is my portfolio. The journal has the stories behind the pictures.

How I work

I shoot mostly on film (Leica M6, Contax T3, Nikonos V), with digital Leicas (M10-P, SL2-S) when a project needs it. I prefer small crews, natural light and real moments over staged setups.
